End Snoring

Sleep is a very important aspect of human life. High quality sleep is what will replenish a body after a long day of work or study. Without proper high quality restful sleep, a body will suffer. It will feel drained, constantly tired. You will be unable to focus or perform everyday activities.

In fact, snoring is a major cause of fatigue and sleep deprivation. Because of the importance of quality sleep, snoring is something that should be taken very seriously. Every step that can be taken should be taken to eliminate the problem because it will increase energy levels and performance at work or school. Snoring can even cause problems with partners, spouses or roommates. No one wants to be woken up every night to the same loud snoring noise.

The first step to stop snoring is to raise your head.
Try sleeping on two pillows or more if it's possible. The theory is that raising the head will help open up the airways that are blocked. Blocked airways cause snoring and the vibrating noises that are heard as air is forced through them. If using multiple pillows is uncomfortable trying raising the head of the mattress 4 to 6 inches by placing rolled up blankets or pillows directly beneath. This will help to keep your tongue and jaw leaning forward rather than tilting back to restrict airways. If you have an adjustable bed, sleep in a position that keeps your head raised.

Another step to take would be to lose weight.
Obesity has been proven to cause problems like snoring and sleep apnea because fat can cause the tissues of the respiratory tract to expand and block those important airways. It also makes snoring louder due to the increased tissue sizes. Try to burn more calories than you consume by walking briskly, jogging, cycling or taking up a sport.

Another major cause of snoring is smoking.
If you are a smoker, you must quit or lower your intake immediately. In fact, smoking can be a sole cause of snoring as it lowers the lungs' ability to intake air and also fills airways with toxins.
